Oxford Seed Fund: Backing Oxford's Best Before Y Combinator

What does Oxford Seed Fund do? What is one unique thing people should know about your organisation?
Oxford Seed Fund is Oxford's student-powered first-cheque fund for AI, deep tech and software. We invest early, move fast.
Not on the site: we've invested alongside top-tier VCs like General Catalyst, a16z, and GV - we increasingly back Oxford founders before they join Y-Combinator.
Why did you choose to build in Oxfordshire? What is your connection to Oxford/Oxfordshire?
Oxfordshire is our unfair advantage: world-class research, founders, and density of ambition.
We're built with the university ecosystem - students sourcing and deep ties across colleges, labs, accelerators and alumni. Being here keeps us close to the signal.
What big problem are you trying to solve, and why does it matter?
Oxford students and alumni build unicorns at the same rate as their counterparts at Stanford and Harvard - but with one-seventh of the capital. We're fixing that mismatch.
Our goal is to back Oxford's best students and alumni early, and crowd in more private capital to help them scale globally.
How can you support — or be supported by — the Oxfordshire ecosystem?
We can help by being a connective layer: capital, founder-friendly diligence, student operators, events, and warm intros to VCs, corporates and customers.
We're supported by Oxfordshire through referrals, lab access, talent, and co-investors - plus partners who'll help founders hire, sell, and expand.
