What does Adder do? What is one unique thing people should know about your organisation?

Adder is a specialised Generative AI development studio. We help businesses validate their generative AI ideas rapidly. We function as an advisory and development partner, bridging the gap between business and engineering.

I (the founder) have been developing Machine Learning products for 8 years and have experience using OpenAI models prior to the release of ChatGPT.

Why did you choose to build in Oxfordshire? What is your connection to Oxford/Oxfordshire?

Oxford has been home to my family for 5 years, and we hope for many more. We find Oxford to be endlessly fascinating and inspiring.

It offers such a unique mix of a local "small-city" feeling community, combined with an incredible global vision and impact. I'm excited to build Adder here alongside so many other inspiring companies and individuals who care about being grounded in knowledge from the past to drive their work on the newest innovations.

What big problem are you trying to solve, and why does it matter?

SMEs see the potential of Generative AI but are stuck in an execution gap. Internal teams often lack niche expertise regarding the rapidly evolving best practices for applying LLMs to business problems. As a result, businesses that know what they want to build don't execute what should be a fairly straight-forward generative AI project (or they spend months on an attempt that fails to deliver ROI).

We solve this by providing immediate, senior-level expertise. And, for businesses that don't have a software development team, we can be the "Generative AI studio in-a-box" that they've been needing to validate and ship their ideas without the overhead of hiring a new full-time team.

How can you support — or be supported by — the Oxfordshire ecosystem?

I am looking for introductions to SMEs who have a vision for an AI application but lack the specialised technical resources to build it.

Before working in software, I was a teacher for 6 years, and I love to share what I've learned with others. I can support the ecosystem by providing training for technical teams or giving talks about the latest Generative AI coding tools, models, and frameworks to help Oxford businesses benefit from all the recent LLM-related innovations that are available to them.
